I've never seen the film before but now I have a great urge to watch it. And it does very much relate to this; when you have a goal, what are you going to do to get what you want? How far will you go, how hard will you work?
Plus, it gives you a feel for Chicago's persona in general and specifically in the days of gangsters. Chicago's official city motto is "“Urbs in Horto” (City in the garden), but the other (unofficial) one is "I will." This comes from the drive to rebuild the city's core after the great fire of 1871. Probably too much trivia, but it's good to love your city. Right?
Also, happy belated birthday!
Thank you so much, it means a lot!
On a related note. Here's a clip from The Untouchables where Sean Connery's character asks a similar question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ALcqt6GMhM
I've always liked this scene and the question.

Wow, while I wasn’t expecting that level of detail I love what you know. You study a lot about Chicago I imagine?
Just naturally curious, plus I’ve lived in the city or just north of it for 30+ years.
Just what I love to hear, natural curiosity. Wouldn't mind visiting Chicago or the U.S. even one day.
It's a lovely place to visit -- you're welcome any time, but I don't know if you'd want to live here...
Thank you and well, I do like London. But a long trip to the U.S. would be cool.
