Hey,
I’m Jelani. I’m a writer, simply putting my love for psychology, fitness, sports, minimalism and philosophy, among many things, all in one place.
A little about me,
It was August 2019 when I learnt that you can write online and help millions.
And at the time, I was pretty lost. Rock bottom it tends to be called. I realised that who was I kidding? I didn’t know myself. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.
It was quite a low moment. But through this time, I found hard lesson of that if my life was to change for good, I had to change completely. Starting from the inside. So I did.
And that’s why I’m now writing to you. And you alone.
I created Joxen—a combination of my initials and the oxen (I’m a Taurus)—to have a place where I could share more things that matter. Things that helped me, which hopefully can help others too. My own name means mighty. Powerful. And with Joxen, I’ve started to embrace this.
It represents three pillars:
Strength
Accountability
Openmindedness
From the strength to push through almost all problems, the accountability to know and distinguish what is good and bad, and neither good nor bad, all the way to the open mind—one of the most powerful tools you could ever possess.
These are all qualities I never had, but brought me to where I am today.
So, now I want to share this with you.
Self-Mastery is one of many peaceful places online where you can be away from problems, away from negativity. I share information to you can grok (I like this word). such as the ideas and teachings of the past and present. All so you can think, move, and live better.
Self-Mastery collects ideas, principles, concepts and strategies that improve your mind, body and philosophy. All in one weekly email.
I strive keep things simple. Clean. But I cover a wealth of topics, from psychological principles of the mind, studies of the body, and the ancient stories of philosophy. If this is what you like to read, join in.
